Overview
An up-to-date review of evolving advances in diabetes care, including new diagnostic approaches, new treatments to delay the onset of diabetes, GLP1 agonists, continuous glucose monitoring, new data on musculoskeletal issues, design of insulin therapy, and new approaches to diabetic retinopathy.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss the autoimmune markers related to type 1 diabetes and identify patients at risk for the disease for possible treatment
  2. Describe autoimmune disorders associated with type 1 diabetes
  3. Design a treatment program for each patient that is appropriately individualized to that patient
  4. Compare the spectrum of oral hypoglycemic agents available to treat type 2 diabetes and the potential benefits and ameliorating the risks of complications
  5. Describe the musculoskeletal issues that can occur in patients with diabetes and the appropriate use of NSAIDs to treat arthritis and when to refer patients for orthopedic consultation
  6. Explain how to use continuous glucose monitoring to adjust the treatment of patient with diabetes
  7. Discuss the current status of the treatment of retinal disease and patients with diabetes
