Overview
Become a master of the airway. In this program you will understand the history of airway management and evolving nature of this field. You will focus on utilizing proper medications and techniques to ensure adequate oxygenation, predict the anatomical and physiological indicators of a difficult airway, recognize a failed airway and learn the skills to manage these scenarios. You will build communication and leadership skills necessary for successfully managing the human factors that contribute. The course promotes group learning and collaboration with code airway simulations to help solidify the major learning points.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Understand the Perspective: Past, present and future of difficult airway management
  2. Management of airways utilizing proper medications
  3. Know when NOT to use medications (and some classes of medications) i.e., gas exchange cannot be maintained with certainty
  4. Recognize a failed airway and manage it appropriately (EGDs and Cric)
  5. Training team based approach of the airway
  6. Employ interactive case studies; interactive skills stations; interactive simulations

Registration

 For Non-Piedmont Learners:

  • Regular Tuition:  $1,950 (for any physician outside of Piedmont System)

  • Regular Tuition: $1,650 (for any NP/PA, outside of Piedmont System)

  • Regular Tuition: $1,200 (for any RT, RN outside of Piedmont System)

 For Piedmont Learners:

  • Gold Rate: $1,700 (for any physician within Piedmont system)

  • Silver Rate: $1,500 (for any NP/PA within the Piedmont system)

  • Bronze Rate: $1,000 (for any RT/RN within the Piedmont system)


Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Piedmont Healthcare is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

In addition to AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM for physicians, ANCC credit for nurses, and ACPE credit for pharmacists, Piedmont Healthcare also offers AAPA Category 1 Credit for PAs, APA credit for psychologists, ASWB ACE credit for social work, BOC credit for athletic trainers, CPEU CDR credit for dietitians, and IPCE credit.
