Overview
The interprofessional team meets to review breast cancer patients) and develop treatment plans with discussion and input from all members of the care team to optimize and coordinate multidisciplinary care, practice evidence-based care, adhere to national guidelines for care, and coordinate clinical trials if appropriate. The activity also serves as an educational forum for review of new treatments, new procedures, or recently FDA approved drugs. It also offers the opportunity for the team to discuss and manage particularly complex, rare or unusual diagnostic or treatment issues for which existing guidelines are not always clear. Lecture-type Activity This series presents the latest practice guidelines and late-breaking research in the subspecialties of medicine. Lectures focus on the prevention of disease, management and treatment of patients with a basic understanding of disease process and updates on novel therapies.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a collaborative approach to care for patients through communications among all members of the breast cancer team.
  2. Examine all possible treatment options to ensure patient's safety when managing treatment plan.
  3. Discuss efficacy of comprehensive treatment plans with oncology team.
  4. Design a specific treatment plan using the latest guidelines.
  5. Review recent cases and identify what could be improved for optimal patient outcome.
  6. State the indications for and identify patients eligible for clinical trials, genetic testing, and rehab/supportive services.
  7. Improve communication between multi-specialty clinicians and professionals
  8. Discuss all components necessary to determine plan of care (i.e. pathology, imaging, psycho-social issues, socioeconomic barriers, ancillary services, operative approach, systemic therapy and radiation) with anticipation of adjuvant care for survivorship and surveillance
